Who is responsible

The data controller is Sirio Tintori, Via dei Pini 22, 56022 Castelfranco di Sotto, Italy. For any privacy request, write to supporto@thedailybrief.it.

What we collect

Your email address, the interest topics you choose, your reading language, and — with your consent — reading signals (opens, clicks, story expands, ratings). That’s it. No third-party ad trackers.

Why we collect it

Email to deliver your brief. Topics and reading signals to personalize which verified stories you see. Reading signals are behavioral profiling under GDPR; we only process them with your explicit consent, which is an optional, unticked box at signup and which you can withdraw at any time from your account page or from the link in the footer of any brief. Withdrawing it stops the measurement and nothing else — the daily brief keeps arriving, ranked by the topics you chose.

Cookies and email measurement

This site sets one cookie, and it exists so that signing in works. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics tags and no third-party scripts, which is why you are not asked to dismiss a consent banner. If you consented to reading signals, the daily brief also carries a small invisible image that records that it was opened. The full list, and how to switch it off, is in the Cookie Policy.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe with one click in any email. You can request a copy of all data we hold about you, or its complete deletion (including your edition archive), by writing to supporto@thedailybrief.it. Deletion is executed within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

Where your data lives

The database and application run on Render in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). Emails are sent through Resend, from its Irish (EU) region. Note that Resend stores account metadata and delivery logs in the United States, under its standard contractual clauses. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties.

AI processing

Story summaries are generated by an AI system from licensed news sources. Your personal data is not sent to AI models — summaries are written once per story and shared by all subscribers, and personalization happens afterwards in our own systems.
